It’s a Chocolate Chip Cookies Kind of Day

Chocolate Chip Cookies | On Mill Road

I woke up to a cold and rainy morning and immediately began craving some warm comfort food today. After browsing Pinterest for inspiration, I decided on chocolate chip cookies because I wanted something sweet and something that would be easy to make.

I followed a recipe from Pioneer Woman, but with a few adaptations (read: left out the ingredients I didn’t have on hand).


Simple Chocolate Chip Cookies adapted from Pioneer Woman’s Good Ol’ Basic Chocolate Chip Cookies


  • 2 sticks softened butter
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 ¼ cups all purpose flour
  • 2 eggs
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 cups milk chocolate or semi sweet chocolate chips (I used chocolate chunks)


Preheat oven to 375. In a large bowl, mix butter, brown sugar and granulated sugar together. Then add the eggs and vanilla extract and mix to combine.

In another bowl, mix the flour, baking soda, and salt together. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients in batches, mixing after each new addition. Then add the chocolate chips/chunks.

On a cookie sheet, drop dough in tablespoon-sized balls about two inches apart. Bake at 350 for 11-12 minutes. If any cookies remain to be stored, allow to cool completely before storing.
